Your life is a journey

Coaching calls us to align our lives with the truth we already know. Each of us has something unique to contribute to the world. I believe our truest happiness lies in discovering what it is we are called to do and doing it wholeheartedly. Our deepest work is the path that nourishes us even as we give our lives in service.

My basic coaching framework is Co-Active Coaching as taught by the Coaches Training Institute (CTI).  When I discovered Co-Active Coaching, I was struck by how closely it paralleled my work with leaders and individuals over the years and the work I did with young people when I was Executive Director of Dynamy, Inc. I enrolled in their course and am now a Certified Co-Active Coach.

Co-active Coaching is based on the following four principles:

1. People are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole.  Most of us know what we need to do, its just that we forget to do it. As a coach I help you clarify what is truly important to you and create ways to bring more of that into your life.

2. Your agenda is what matters. You choose the area of your life, you choose the direction, you choose the goals.  As coach, I listen for your bigger Agenda and help you create specific steps to create change in your life.

3. Life is a whole - every part of life can be included.  While we often make sharp distinctions between work and home, finances and health, there are no such lines in real life. As we look into one part of your life, we will likely find surprising and useful connections to many other areas.

4. Dance in the moment. I come to each coaching session committed to being curious, listening, and trusting my intuition. I listen for what is most alive to you. Together, we follow that aliveness wherever it leads us today.

My coaching focuses on fulfillment, balance, and being. Fulfillment is about leading a life that is truly satisfying and meaningful. Balance is about finding our way amidst the multitude of demands we constantly face. Being means drawing our attention from concerns that are distant to the here-and-now so that we learn to live more fully through all the circumstances of life, both the easy and the challenging.

Coaching is about helping you make real change in your life. Toward that end, most coaching sessions will conclude with homework -- actions that you commit to take to move you toward where and who you want to be. Part of my role as coach is to remind you and hold you accountable to what you really want to do.
